About Relational Bus Systems
WHO IS RBS ?

RBS has been a software development house doing business in Upstate New York since 1987. We have supplied custom programming services to local businesses and Fortune 500 companies in the New York City Metropolitan area. Our "non-transportation" client list has included Corning Inc., Metpath, The Smithsonian Group, the Library of Congress, Scholastic Magazine, and a number of research universities. A detailed list of clients and references is available upon request.

The principles in RBS have a history in small systems development. President, Bill Harnett, has roots in the Canadian Travel Industry where, among other things, he developed Tour Operations Management Software for a regional carrier and systems for The Canadian and British Association of Travel Agencies. Bob Schecter, our Manager of R&D, has been involved in software development for PC's since the mid 1970's. Walter Buist is the Head Developer. If our programming staff is to be considered builders, Walter has been the architect of many of our products including GoChart2000 and GoTour Online. Walter spent over 20 years developing applications for the securities industry before joining RBS. The senior management team at RBS has combined over 60 years in small systems applications development.

In 1989 we received a contract to develop a PC based network system for an area Charter Bus operator, Oneonta Bus Lines. Over the course of the next three years we automated every aspect of their business from Charter Bookings & Scheduling to Tour Reservations & Receivables Management. During this process, and subsequently, we were urged to make our system available for wider distribution. Our market research and attendance at a number of industry trade shows indicated that there was indeed a lack of affordable systems available to the industry at large. Our decision to begin marketing our systems has been reinforced by the continuing reduction in the cost of PC hardware to the point where a very powerful system can be constructed for well under $4,000 for a single user and under $7,500 for multi-user systems operating on a local area network, Hardware & Software Included!

PRODUCT LAUNCH:

In the fall of 1992 we began offering our system nationwide. Since our participation at the UBOA Bus Expo '93 in Miami, we have installed more than 400 systems across North America. The interest in our programs has been outstanding. Reference lists for GoTour and GoChart software users are posted here on our website. We have been told by people who have used, or evaluated, other PC-based systems that ours is functionally equivalent or superior to any other system available. The ease with which our systems can be installed and used makes computerized tour and charter management systems accessible to everyone. They have told us that our applications compare very favorably with mainframe systems and deliver between 85% and 90% of the functions of their systems. When you consider that our systems, hardware, software, and support contract included, costs less than one quarter of the price of Unix-based systems and about half the price of competitive Windows-based systems. RBS represents real value for the small to medium sized operator.

RBS SYSTEMS ARCHITECTURE - APPLICATION MODULES:

We have taken a modular approach to the installation of our systems. By picking only the modules that are needed a client can, in effect, build a custom system for themselves. If they only want to automate the Tour Operations of their business, they can do just that. If they want to computerize Charter Management and Driver Duty Time they can do just that. Each of the modules of our system standalone, and when installed together share information so that there is no duplication of data entry. RBS application modules work with other systems. RBS software runs on industry standard PC's, in an Standard Windows Network Operating Environment. We encourage you to establish a relationship with local hardware suppliers, who, in most cases, can provide you with very competitive prices and a superior level of after sales service and support for your equipment. Our toll free support is beyond compare in the personal attention you receive, and our annual support contract cost less per year than I have heard quoted for a month or two from other vendors.

CUSTOMIZATION IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE:

At RBS we feel that today's hardware and software technologies allow us to say that one size does not fit all. Included with each major module of our system is between four and six hours of custom programming to tailor the application to your specific needs. This time is generally used to customize reports and customer documents such as the appearance of Passenger Invoices, Receipts, and Rooming Lists in Tours, Charter Confirmations, Driver Orders and Dispatch reports in GoChart2000.

NO RISK EVALUATION OF GOCHART2000:

If you are serious about automating your business, we will send you a fully functional copy of GoChart2000 to evaluate in your offices for 45 days without risk or obligation. During this time you are treated as fully registered users and have full access to our toll-free support plan.
